Thank you for being interested in a blog run by 3 bachelor of media students who aim to make a difference in today’s media sphere.

Although some of you might be sick of the so-called ‘fake news epidemic‘, its existence is still very much prominent online. Despite, not being a stranger to us, what makes fake news so elusively believable?

Truly fake news is the inception layer cake that never stops being baked- and we are all culprits of this. When was the last time you added fuel to the flame to an already polarised debate or shared an article from reading only the headline?

We aim to teach YOU how to improve your critical thinking and digital literacy skills in order to navigate through fake news online. This will not only give light to the real problems in need of attention but will also aim to foster better funding public-serving journalism.

Fake news is now taking forms far beyond political propaganda. In fact, individuals are developing fakes to serve their own purposes, allowing it to become a weapon for those seeking to avoid public scrutiny and used to undermine the media’s credibility. Being able to identify fake news and not sharing every clickbait heading you see without verifying is a crucial step.
